Privacy Policy for necdo
Short version: necdo keeps your expenses on your device. There is no necdo account, no necdo server, and no analytics or advertising. We do not collect, see, or sell your data.
Who this covers
This policy applies to the necdo mobile app (Android package com.necdo.necdo) and to any desktop build of the same app.
What the app stores
necdo saves the things you type or speak into it — expense amounts, notes and descriptions, category and person labels, dates, and trip or household names — in a database file inside the app's own private storage on your device. That file is not readable by other apps.
The app does not create an account for you, does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details, and does not read your contacts, photos, location, or files.
What leaves your device
Nothing is uploaded to us. necdo has no backend service, so your expense data is never transmitted to the developer.
There is one exception you should know about, and it is not ours:
- Voice input. If you tap the microphone to dictate an expense, necdo hands the recording to the speech recognition service built into your device — Google's on Android, Apple's on iOS. Depending on your device, its settings, and the language you use, that service may process the audio on the device or send it to the vendor's servers to convert it to text. necdo receives only the resulting text. That processing is governed by the vendor's privacy policy, not this one: see Google's Privacy Policy or Apple's Privacy Policy.
Voice input is entirely optional. If you never grant the microphone permission, the feature simply stays off and you can type instead.
Permissions the app requests
- Microphone (
RECORD_AUDIO) — used only while you are dictating an expense, and only after you tap the microphone. necdo does not record in the background. - Internet (
INTERNET) — required by the system speech recognition component described above. necdo itself makes no network requests to any server of ours.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
necdo contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind. No advertising or tracking identifier is read or shared.
Children
necdo is a general-purpose expense tracker and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal data at all, it gathers nothing from children either.
Your data, your control
Because everything lives on your device, you are in full control of it:
- Delete individual entries inside the app at any time.
- Clear the app's storage from your device settings to erase the database.
- Uninstalling necdo removes all of its stored data from the device.
We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on your behalf. If your device backup service (such as Android Backup or iCloud) is enabled, a copy of the app's data may be included in those backups under that service's own terms.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of necdo changes how data is handled — for example by adding optional cloud sync — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
